↗ In the picture above, the sun's light shines down onto the solar panels, and the silicon solar panel material collect/absorb the photons. Free electrons then form in the solar cells and power is created. Then, the power can be either sent to a power plant to distribute, or the power can be used for people's homes if they have their own solar panels.
Solar energy is a renewable resource used to provide electricity. It has advantages and downfalls, and here are some of them.
Advantages:
-Renewable
-Emits no pollution
Disadvantages:
-Does not create a abundant amount of electricity
-Solar panels have to be built in places that have a majority of sunlight year-round
-Costly
